Dr. Katherine J. Zamecki, M.D. Katherine J. Zamecki, MD, is a board-certified ophthalmologist with subspecialty training in orbital and oculoplastic surgery. She graduated cum laude from Barnard College with a B.A. in Anthropology. She received her medical degree from New Jersey Medical School in Newark, New Jersey. During medical school, she excelled academically and was elected into the honorable Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society, an elite group of medical professionals recognized for their excellence in scholarship and honorable virtues. Katherine went on to complete a medical internship at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital Center, where she was one of a select few to be elected “Intern of the Year.” She completed her ophthalmology residency at the Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City and went on to a fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center under S. Tonya Stefko, MD, FACS. During fellowship, she had extensive exposure to surgery and diseases of the eyelids, orbit, and lacrimal system. She also had the opportunity to work with and teach residents, something she loves to do.

Dr. Zamecki is interested and experienced in cosmetic and reconstructive surgery of the eyelids, as well as soft tissue augmentation with fillers such as Radiesse®, Juvederm®, Restylane®, and Perlane®. She is experienced in the administration of Botox®, both for blepharospasm and aesthetic indications. Dr. Zamecki performs hundreds of surgical eyelid procedures a year and uses her background in microsurgical techniques to achieve natural-looking results with a gentle, caring touch. Dr. Zamecki loves to teach and in her spare time, she has lectured to the medical staff at Danbury Hospital on a variety of topics. She also tries to volunteer some of her time to local community vision screenings.

Dr. Zamecki lives in Connecticut with her husband and her daughter Natalie. She loves the outdoors (biking, hiking, tennis, anything!) and enjoys cooking and traveling. She is currently trying to learn how to sail. Thanks to her Polish parents, Dr. Zamecki speaks nearly fluent Polish. She can also speak basic Spanish. Dr. Zamecki is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO), American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery (AACS), New England Oculoplastic Society (NEOPS), and Connecticut State Eye Physicians (CSEP). Dr. Zamecki is a published author and her original articles and case reports have appeared in the following prestigious journals: American Journal of Ophthalmology, British Journal of Ophthalmology, and Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.
